COVER SONGS

From time to time, I enjoy whipping up my take on a track I like. Not only is it fun; I learn something in the process each time. Click the titles below to listen, or right click / save as if you want to keep the mp3. I’ll update as new pieces are released – currently working on some by Magazine, Lords Of The New Church, and The Screaming Tribesmen, to name a few.

“Open Your Eyes” by Lords Of The New Church – started this one months before release, and by the time I put it out there it’s decidedly relevant, despite being originally released 43 years prior.

“Broken Things” by Naked Raygun – the second Naked Raygun I’ve covered.

“Euphopria” by Killing Joke – I was asked if I’d like to do a track for a Killing Joke tribute. My good friend and former bandmate, Randy Haines, supplied the guitars. Due to inconvenient getting sick, I had to whip this up in 4 days flat as I couldn’t manage the vocals on the virtually complete other track I’d already completed all the music for.

“I Don’t Know” by Naked Raygun – Tracked the guitars and bass on my laptop at work between tattoos, right before the covid shutdown. Drums provided by another good friend and former bandmate, Ryan Hendrickson.

“Tired Of Seeing Blood On The Floor” by Neutralboy – Mike from Neutralboy was kind enough to provide lyrics and his blessing to tackle this cover. Learned the backstory to it, which made the experience all the better.

“My Black Angel” by Cancerslug – It’s no secret that Cancerslug is one of my all time faves, and this is the second but certainly not last cover I’ve done.

“Schools Are Prisons” by The Ex-Pistols – While originally an alleged Sex Pistols demo on the Pirates Of Destiny album, they were not involved at all. That said, the song was still a gem in the rough and a lot of fun to retool.

“Disappointment” – by Cancerslug – A good friend, and client, once misspoke about how I never fail to disappoint, when checking out the tattoo I had just completed for her. A few days later this Cancerslug track came on the playlist, and I got inspired to cover it, then dedicate to her for a laugh.

Open Windows” by The Empire Hideous – Appearing on the first HadesMachine album, this cover of Open Windows was done with the blessing of my good friend, Myke Hideous, who originally released it more than half a lifetime ago. I recall tracking the vocals whilst reading from the cassette inlay. Given how long ago this was done, I think a remix is long overdue!

“No Beast So Fierce” by Turbonegro – Remake of an early song by one of the greatest rock n’ roll acts of our time
